Wreck fishing
Picture Archive
By David Elliott

Wreck fishing off the south coast can provide you with some great offshore angling. Deep sea wreck fishing is great sport for catching Cod and Pollock. There are thousands of wrecks which lie on the sea bed throughout the English Channel and they range from small planes to massive cargo ships. There are several ways to wreck fish, one of the most popular ways off the south coast is to drift with the tide across the wreck. We fish with lures and this way of wreck fishing is called 'gilling' and is the most enjoyable way to fish. The deep water wrecks hold some big Cod, Pollock, Ling and even big Conger eels. All of these species can be caught while wreck fishing as the Cod and Pollock like to swim around the wrecks, whereas the Conger eels live within the super structure of the shipwreck.

Danny from London booked up a days wreck fishing on Ocean Warrior 3 and caught some cracking Pollock, which provides some great sport on light tackle. His biggest Pollock weighed 15lb 8oz and he also had one at 15lb, with a total of 8 Pollock on the day.

David Elliott, the skipper of Ocean Warrior 3 takes anglers out to go wreck fishing on a daily basis. All types of anglers are welcome including individuals or full boat bookings and also tuition can be given to the less experienced. So if you are looking to try fishing these offshore shipwrecks, try Ocean Warrior 3 for your wreck fishing trip.
