Pollack Fishing - on Ocean Warrior 3
|
|
By David Elliott
Pollack fishing - on Ocean Warrior 3 from Newhaven Marina. We have been fishing the deep sea wrecks for some big Pollack. Pollack fishing is an art and the best technique to catch Pollack is called 'gilling'. This takes place while we are Pollack fishing by drifting over a shipwreck using an 8oz lead, connected to a long boom and a 10ft long trace.
Don Matthews had a Pollack fishing trip on Ocean Warrior 3 and his biggest Pollack of the day was 17lb 3oz. It was caught using a white shad lure but it gave Don a good fight on light gear and had several powerful dives. During the Pollack fishing this week we have gound that they have been very high above the wrecks and it has taken about 50 turns above the wreck. The water is really clear at the moment which can help while Pollack fishing over the deep water wrecks off tyhe south coast of Sussex.
If you are looking for a day to go Pollack fishing to catch these hard fighting fish give David Elliott a ring to book up a Pollack fishing trip. There is also a Pollack fishing video on my website - check it out...
Another picture of Don with a 72lb Conger eel. It was caught back in the summer when the sun was shining while using a mackerel flapper bait.
